Here in the middle of the Ocean, Suguensou is a ship which has known calm seas as well as fierce storms. The power consumed in keeping the course against the wind and waves on the high seas still resonates in the engine room. Old Suguensou, most likely built in the 13th century, gave its ruined stones towards the construction of Suguensou in the middle of the 19th century. A t the beginning of the 20th century, the "Admiral" Alfred, who sailed the seas from Brest to Tonkin, added on passage ways and made a cabin for each of his sons, at the same time improving the main deck with oriental vegetation.
That was the "Belle Époque", the time of the big ships. Suguensou was a full tilt.Then the Ocean swelled up, the wind rushed in the portholes, the sea ran over the decks. The ship had lost its Captain and the crew hesitated as to whether they should flee the ship, set a new course or stick it out in the turmoil. They kept their course and Suguensou resisted.
