CHÂTEAU ROYAL DE SAINT SATURNIN (saint saturnin) : Homepage bed and breakfast

This powerful fortress was built during the XIIIth century by the de La Tour d'Auvergne family, has thus been the property of both Queen Catherine de Medicis and Queen Marguerite de Valois, and then of the King Louis XIII, being therefore preserved from destruction. It was enlarged and continually embellished until the XVth century under the influence of the Renaissance, as well as carefully restored recently. It dominates the medieval village of Saint Saturnin, a member of the "Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of France". Occupied by it's new owners, it is now open to a few privileged guests who can enjoy the large size, the charm and the confort of it's guestrooms, access to all of which, is through the court of honnor. Bathed in history and havens of peace, they enjoy the beautiful views of the courtyard, the park and gardens or the village with it's church - one of the major Romanesque church of the Auvergne.
